Fall/Halloween Mini Sessions!

This was my first time attempting to do mini sessions. I was a little scared because I didn't want to go all out buying props, etc. and then not have a single person sign up! Well, I was able to get the perfect location and ended up getting a few props and to my surprise, word spread and I was booked! I just love the way these turned out, and the light was soo gorgeous the day of!! I hope you enjoy these as much as I did!

Jose & Karely are MARRIED!

And now... to follow the post of their engagement session below, here are some images from their beautiful Wedding. Their parents and family did SUCH a great job on the decorations!! Everything was absolutely stunning!

Jose & Karely | Engagement Session

Wow.. so it's been TWO months since my last blog post. That goes to show how busy I've been! This last August was our 1 year anniversary as Noah's Ark Photography, and it's been such a journey. As with any business, the hardest part is building up your clientele. I spent pretty much the whole year marketing my butt off and trying to get our name out there! I stayed busy throughout the year, with newborn and family sessions for the most part, but nothing consistent... until the end of August, when I was in the Houston Wedding Showcase and got to meet soo many amazing people that were *in love*. Between the wedding showcase, our first Fall/Halloween Mini sessions, and word of mouth, I started getting lots of calls! I couldn't be happier :)

So here I am, trying to catch up on my blogging.. starting with a close friend of my husbands. My husband and Jose have been friends for many years, and when we found out that he was getting married we were soo excited for him! I took Jose and Karely's engagement pictures mid August in the Houston Heights. We pretty much just wondered around, had a good time, and took awesome pictures. Here are a few images from their engagement session!

Juice Fasting!

I just got done watching a documentary on Netflix titled Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead. I highly recommend this film to anyone who wants to live a healthier and better lifestyle. It really makes to think twice about what you are putting in your mouth and how it affects your body in the long run. I've been researching 'Juice Fasting' for a while now, and although it seems like a great way to detox your body and release it of all the nasty stuff we put in it, I've never had the will power or strength to actually go through with it. Not even for 5 days, but I think now, after lots of research, advice from others that have actually done it, and watching the film, I've decided to take the plunge.

Today, marks Day 1 of my 5 day Juice Fast challenge. I am not eating any food, except for a couple raw fruits and vegetables throughout the day, and I am drinking only juice made from fresh fruits and veggies and lots of water. The good thing was that I didn't have to invest in a nice juicer- we already had one packed away and collecting dust. Yesterday, I gave it a good washing and practiced a couple of juice recipes. Once my son was down for the night, I headed over to the grocery store and packed up on kale, cucumbers, beets, carrots, strawberries, blueberries, apples and plenty more. My husband said I wiped out the whole produce department! After all the preparation, I was ready.

I woke up today, rushing out the door as usual- but not without my juice in hand! Breakfast was made up of kale, carrots, apples, and blueberries. It was delicious! That's the thing about all these recipes, they have all tasted great. Normally, I would not pick up a raw vegetable and eat it. Gross. But when mixed with others, and juiced to perfection, it's so easy to drink up. Another plus is that through juicing, I can add many different fruits or vegetables and drink all the nutrients at once because who would really eat kale, celery, beets, and an apple as a snack? No one. I know these first 3 days are going to be tough. Heck, it's not even 5 o'clock on the first day and I'm struggling, but I know if I can get over this hump, my body will adapt and I will end up feeling great in the end. So, here's to a longer, happier, healthier lifestyle... Drink Up!

Everyone go watch Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.. It will seriously change your life. And if you want more information on how to Reboot your life, click here.

End of Summer Pool Session | Houston Photographer

A couple weeks ago, I got to photograph 5 families spend a fun evening at their neighborhood swimming pool. I have known 3 of these families for quite some time now. I've been photographing their kids for about 5 or 6 years now! It's crazy to see them grow up soo fast. So anyway, since summer is coming to a close, and school is about to start we did what has sort of become a tradition and did a session at the pool. I got a lot of great candid shots of the kids a long with some breath taking set ups we did. I know you'll love these!!

The adorable banner that was used in our set up is by Primitive Moose.. Be sure to check out her page on facebook here.

The Lin Family

It's great getting photograph repeat customers, and it's amazing to see their little ones grow! You might remember Gabriel's newborn session I did in February which were just gorgeous! If you don't remember, you can find it here. Well, I got a call do come back and do family pictures for the Lin's. Stephen, G's father, had his parents in town along with his sister and her family who were visiting from China. This was a rare get together for everyone, since they all live far apart so we wanted to get some awesome photos for them to keep! Take a look...

Meet Melody...

You are going to love looking at this adorable little girl!! I got to photograph Melody Anne earlier this week at just 10 days old, and she did amazing. I've known her mother, Roxana for years- we went to school together and I have known her family forever. We'd talked throughout her pregnancy about maybe doing maternity and a newborn session when Melody arrived, and although we didn't get a chance to do the maternity session, I have to say that these newborn images were worth the wait.. they are absolutely beautiful! Roxana and Patrick, you both have a beautiful girl and I'm glad I was able to help introduce her to your friends and family!

The Ramos Twins

When my mom told me she knew of someone having twins, I immediately jumped at the opportunity to do their newborn photos! I'd never photographed twins before and I new it would be a challenge, but I was ready. Once we decided on a date, I made the drive over to their house and spent close to 3 hours with them.

When I said it would be a challenge, I wasn't joking! These girls made me work. Although we didn't walk away with a ton of photographs, it was definitely fun. Here a few of the images we got during their session.

I'd also like to thank Sew Whimsey and Les Minis Jujus for the beautiful headband and hat :o)

Nicole & Freddy are Married!

It's funny how the web can connect you with so many people you wouldn't otherwise talk to. I was always very apprehensive when it came to social networking sites, but when I decided to start my own company, I was told numerous times that staying connected with Facebook was a must. And that's exactly how I started chatting with Nicole about possibly being able to shoot her April 1st, 2011 wedding.

Nicole and I went to school together for one year, and although we didn't talk much, I knew who she was since we had mutual friends. Since the summer of 2010, when we started talking about me photographing the wedding, the whole experience of working together was a blast. We met on numerous occasions, did an Engagement, and Bridal portrait session, and then finally, the wedding came. The wedding was just gorgeous.. as was the bride, and Sendy Ayala, my second shooter that came along with me did an amazing job.

All in all, it was a pleasure working with Nicole and Freddy.. here are a few images we got from the wedding.

Avery & Isaiah!

Ahh.. I just loved being able to play and photograph these two... Meet Avery and Isaiah, the children of my good friend, Cortney Mackey. I've known Cortney for about 10 years (wow that seems like a really long time when I say it) and we'd been talking about doing a session of her kiddos for a while but it was hard to find the perfect time with our schedules, and the fact that we live about an hour away.. We finally set a date and I had so much fun! Really, I think I was playing more than I was 'taking pictures' :) Isaiah is around the same age as my son, so I was pretty much running around trying to keep them busy... and still for a couple of seconds at a time!

All in all, I think they came out beautifully..

Gabriel Jackson Lin {Newborn Session}

So since we're on the subject of newborns... let's go right to another handsome fellow. Meet Gabriel Lin. Seems like I've been on a newborn kick lately, huh?? Yep... and I love it! I got a call from Elizabeth, Gabriel's mother on a Tuesday and by Friday I was at her house photographing this cutie. He was the perfect little model and was able to hold the chin poses on his own! I had so much fun taking his pictures and I'm glad I was able to meet such a beautiful family...
